The weekend is finally here! This Friday night, I am fully prepared to curl up and watch two of my favorite romantic comedies back to back: The Devil wears Prada and Notting Hill.
And the first thing I thought of when I planned my movie night was a big bowl of Popcorn. My mind was literally spiraling with hundreds of ideas to top my favorite snack. Popcorn is like a blank canvas – waiting to be flavored with crazy, creative, colorful toppings! And any movie night is incomplete without lip-smacking popcorn to accompany, which you can mindlessly shove into your mouth every two minutes, without looking away from all the action on the screen.
I am sharing three delicious popcorn toppings here that you’re sure to love:
A delightful combination of sticky, sweet and spicy, this flavorful recipe is one of my favorites.
What you’ll need:
- 1 large bowl of popped corn kernels
- 2 tablespoon salted butter
- 4 teaspoon honey
- 1 ½ teaspoon chilli powder
How to make: Melt the butter in a saucepan over low flame. Add honey and chilli, and mix well into the butter. Add the popped corn kernels and mix in well till all popcorn is coated with the topping. Turn off the heat and leave for five minutes at room temperature before serving.
Olive oil, lemon and a mild mix of oregano, thyme and basil, this is as healthy as popcorn will ever get!
What you’ll need:
- 1 large bowl of popped corn kernels
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon mixed herbs
- A pinch of salt
How to make: Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over low flame, and add in the mixed herbs. Turn off the heat, and add in the lemon juice. Add the popped corn kernels and mix in well till all popcorn is coated with the olive oil and herbs. Serve immediately.
A rich, sweet indulgence! Less snack and more dessert, this is a creative take on the classic caramel corn.
What you’ll need:
- 1 large bowl of popped corn kernels
- 2 tablespoon salted butter
- 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 ½ teaspoon instant coffee
How to make: Melt the butter in a saucepan over low flame. Add the sugar, and heat for 2 minutes over low flame till the sugar caramelizes. Make sure to keep stirring and keep the heat low so as not to scorch the sugar. Once the caramel is ready, add in the instant coffee and popped corn kernels, and stir till all popcorn is coated with the coffee caramel. Turn off the heat and leave at room temperature for ten minutes to bring out the crunchiness.
